Discovering the Beauty of Kharota near Dharamshala: A Morning Trekker’s Place

May 11th, 2024

Today, I went on a cool adventure from Dari to Kharota, near Dharamshala, starting super early at 6:45 am. I took a narrow path for trekking to get to Kandi, then ran along the road to Khaniara village. I found some shortcuts and reached Kharota in just 70 minutes.

The Road towards Kharota can be trekked easily from Dharamshla in 90 minutes to 2 hours as early morning walk

Kharota is awesome because from there, you can see the Kangra Valley and Dharamshala on one side, and snowy mountains on the other.

Most people drive there, but I decided to walk like the locals from Khaniara.

When I got to Kharota, it was still pretty quiet because not many people were around. I found a nice spot to sit on a rock and did a guided meditation for about 18 minutes. It was so peaceful and refreshing.

There were some simple food stalls in Kharota, selling tea and Maggi noodles which were closed at morning

I also saw a cool thing made from recycled stuff that helps keep you dry in the rain.

A Himalayan rain crown fashioned from recycled materials, serving as a testament to human creativity and resourcefulness in harmony with nature.

If someone comes through own vehicle it is less than 5 minutes Trek

Overall, Kharota is a nice place to visit, and traveling by one’s own vehicle is the preferred choice for most visitors. If you enjoy morning walks, this destination offers excellent options for uphill treks, as experienced firsthand by myself during the morning expedition. During the day, particularly in the late afternoon, it’s ideal for a leisurely picnic. It’s not super special, but it’s a chill spot to connect with nature and take a break from the busy city life.
