Trekking to Adi Himani Chamunda(Dharamshala): A Divine Journey

April 28th, 2024

Hello fellow travelers and adventure seekers! Join me as I recount my recent trek(April 21,2024) to the Adi Himani Chamunda,Temple,Near Dharamshala Himachal Pradesh

Setting Off:
The journey began at the crack of dawn, 5:30 AM from Palampur town, as my two friends and I embarked on an expedition to Adi Himani Chamunda. With a convoy of three cars carrying a total of 11 eager souls, our excitement knew no bounds.

Unexpected Delays:
Our first pitstop in Jia village(There are two ways to start:One is Jia village, other is through Jadrangal village) turned out to be a delightful yet unexpected delay. Despite prearrangement, the delay in paranthas made us to pause three of us(me and my friends), prolonging our departure by 40 minutes. Nevertheless, the delay only added to the anticipation of what lay ahead.

The Ascend:
With satisfied appetites and spirits renewed, we commenced our ascent at 7:12 AM. The trail, adorned with barren yet captivating landscapes, urged us to tread steadily. As the morning sun rose higher, the absence of trees made an early start imperative, a lesson learned for future treks.

Midway Respite:
Reaching midway at 9:10 AM was a welcomed relief. A quaint water source and a humble shop provided much-needed respite for weary travelers. Refreshed and replenished, I resumed my journey, serenaded by the soothing melodies of bhajans and songs, a reminder of the simple joys found in nature’s embrace.

Trek is mostly steep without Trees so better to start early morning

Divine Summit:
At long last at 10.22 AM( I trek relatively faster Average time will be 4-5 hours), reached the summit of Adi Himani Chamunda, greeted by the divine presence of Goddess Chamunda herself. The panoramic vista from the ancient temple offered a breathtaking reward for our perseverance, a sight made all the more glorious by the lightness of our steps and the joy in our hearts.

Divine Encounter:
At 10:22 AM, we finally reached the summit, greeted by the divine presence of Goddess Chamunda. The ancient Chamunda Temple, steeped in history and spirituality, offered a breathtaking panorama of the surrounding vistas. The euphoria of our achievement mingled with the serene tranquility of the sacred site, leaving an indelible mark on our souls.

For Last three years Annual Bhandara in April Month (Next Saturday/Sunday Post Ram Navmi in the Temple)

If one reaches early and has plan to stay they can explore another small temple in this range(appx Journey : 2 hours)

The descent is steep and better to slow to minimize fatigue next day

Mid April may be the best time to visit the trek though March to June and September to November also good

Conclusion:
As I reflect on this transformative experience, I am reminded of the profound connection between nature, spirituality, and the human spirit.
